Elke Luyten, originally from Hasselt, Belgium, currently lives and works in New York. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Watermill Center, UCLA's Hothouse Program and the Nottle Theatre Company in South Korea. She also maintains a diverse repertoire of solo work, created in collaboration with director Kira Alker, which has been showcased at venues in Mexico, Belgium, France and Japan. Her latest solo IAMNOTSURE premiered in Estonia at the Noore Tantsu Festival. In the Spring of 2010 Luyten is performing two pieces by Marina Abramovic at the exhibition "Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present" at the MoMA. Luyten regularly teaches workshops that focus on the dramatic presence of the performer. Improvization with Sun, Moon & Stars is Luyten's first collaboration with Elaine Summers. | |
